Sammie Jones, recently retired clerk and APWU member, passed away. Sammie was a Manual Distribution Clerk on Tour 3.

AGE: 84 LONG BRANCH
Sammie Jones, 84, of Long Branch, died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service, Eatontown. He was a member of Second Baptist Church, Long Branch. He was a World War II, Korean, and Vietnam War veteran, serving in the U.S. Army for 30 years with the rank of sergeant major. He was born in Laurens, S.C.
Surviving are a daughter, Margaret Jones-Williams of San Antonio, Texas; special nieces and a nephew, Mary Ann Dubose of North Carolina, Karen and husband Tyrone Bigelow of North Carolina, and Perry and wife Renee Westmoreland of North Carolina; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20 until the funeral at noon from Second Baptist Church, 93 Liberty St., Long Branch. Interment will be in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. Jackson Funeral Home, Neptune, is in charge of arrangements.
