The most important thing to remember about Retirement is START PLANNING NOW! It's never too early to improve your post-work financial picture. It's likely not too late, either. Most people just can't figure out where to start. My advice? Start at The APWU of Florida's Retiree Chapter web pages. I surfed 1000 sites putting this page together and, in my humble opinion, I needn't have bothered. They've pretty much got it covered. Hopefully, the best of what's out there has been collected here. Remember, if you want to start planning for your retirement, or if you are close to retirement now, you have the RIGHT (and an obligation to yourself) to make an appointment with the Personnel Office (Human Resources) to review your OPF, your work history, and your options.
